SUPERCONDUCTING TRANSITION-TEMPERATURES OF VAPOR QUENCHED AG-IN AND AG-SN MULTILAYERS

Sequences with up to 17 layers of alternate films of In and Ag respectively Sn and Ag were deposited onto a liquid helium cooled substrate and studied in situ. A plot of the superconducting transition temperature against the number of films yields a zig-zag variation superimposed on a smoothly increasing curve. This agrees qualitatively with a recent theory for electron correlation in adjacent superconducting layers, operating in conjunction with a proximity effect. © 1979.
