REACTION OF THE NUCLEAR MEDIUM AGAINST CHIRAL SYMMETRY RESTORATION

摘要
We study the evolution with density of the quark condensate in an extended nuclear medium. We relate this evolution to the nuclear sigma commutator, which amounts to the study of the scattering of soft pions on nuclei. We show that the distortion acts as a reaction against the restauration of chiral symmetry. For extended systems, of a size larger than the pion Compton wavelength, the reaction is of zeroth order in the pion mass. Hence, for an infinite system, it survives in the chiral limit.
