摘要
Particle-liquid mass transfer was studied in a bed fluidized by gas and a Newtonian liquid by using the electrochemical reduction of dissolved oxygen at the surface of a tethered silver particle. The effect of the liquid coalescing properties, which could not be predicted by empirical correlations, could be predicted by substituting the liquid holdup for the bed porosity in correlations for liquid-solid fixed and fluidized beds. There was no enhancement of the particle-liquid mass transfer by penetration of the boundary layer by bubbles of a reactive gas.
