摘要
This article is an examination of the state of organic farming in Britain. Interest in organic farming has increased over recent years, but relatively little is known about its extent and nature. This article attempts to remedy this deficiency drawing on a survey of organic farmers undertaken by the authors. The survey is put into the general context of agricultural policy in the second part of the article, while in the third, fourth and fifth parts the state of the British organic sector is described. In the final part, the potential contribution that a wider adoption of organic methods could make towards solving the problems of European agricultural community is assessed.
