摘要
Alkali adsorbates on transition metals have traditionally given Poor R factors for LEED theory/ experiment comparison. In this paper we postulate that at least part of the remaining discrepancy is due to the non-spherical potential caused by a dipole moment on the alkali atom. Inclusion of a dipole in the fitting procedure gives a reasonable magnitude for the dipole, and a location not far from the centre of the alkali. The R factor shows a substantial improvement.
