摘要
1. 1. A new method is described for the simultaneous measurement of oxygen consumption and activity of pelagic crustaceans. 2. 2. The relationship between activity and oxygen consumption for the mesopelagic mysid, Gnathophausia ingens, at 5°C can be expressed as y = 31.34 (1.0053x) where y = oxygen consumption and x = pleopod beats/min. 3. 3. G. ingens can maintain an activity level of approx. 160 pleopod beats/min over a period of at least 14 days regardless of changes in orientation and light level. 4. 4. The results are discussed in terms of the probable lifestyle" of G. ingens in its deep-sea environment. © 1978."
