摘要
Insulin from the turkey (Meleagris gallopavo). The preparation of crystalline insulin from turkey pancreas is described. Mean values of 6 mg of crystalline insulin were obtained from 700 g pancreas (fresh weight). The overall amino acid composition of turkey insulin differs from bovine insulin, although it equals that of chicken insulin. Compared to chicken insulin there are differences in the amino acid sequence. The biological activity of crystalline turkey insulin was compared to bovine insulin (= 100%) as follows: mouse convulsion test 135 %(p<0,001); fat pad test 230% (p<0,001); I4C-incorporation into the lipids of fat pads 190%; fat cell test 416% (p< 0,001); 14C-incorporation into the lipids of fat cells 429 %. The immunoassay displayed an activity of 41 %. © 1969, IEEE. All rights reserved.
