HIGH-FIELD MAGNETIZATION AND MAGNETORESISTANCE OF AMORPHOUS ALLOYS CONTAINING RARE-EARTH ATOMS

摘要
It is shown that the random anisotropy model of Harris, Plischke and Zuckermann (HPZ) gives a good description of some magnetic properties of amorphous rare-earth-noble metal alloys. In particular the random anisotropy constant D and the exchange interaction I are consistently obtained for each alloy by fitting to data for magnetisation at high magnetic fields or magnetic susceptibility at high temperatures. The resultant values of D and I are used to predict the behaviour of the magnetisation and, for some alloys, the anisotropy in the magnetoresistance for high magnetic fields at various temperatures. © 1978.
