摘要
1. Percentages of glycosylated hemoglobin in blood from sharks caught off the coasts of North Carolina and Delaware were determined using the affinity microchromatographic method. 2. The level of glycosylated hemoglobins in sharks ranges from 2.24-4.46% of the total hemoglobin, compared with 4.3-7.7% glycosylated hemoglobin in humans. 3. Whereas the glucose levels were comparable, this difference in percentage of glycosylated hemoglobins may be explained by the difference in life span between human and shark red blood cells.
