VACUUM TUNNELING IN SPONTANEOUSLY BROKEN GAUGE THEORY

摘要
The vacuum of a spontaneously broken gauge theory is classified in terms of the scalar multiplet by π3(S2). The possibility of a vacuum tunneling is discussed, and in the weak coupling limit an explicit solution for a scalar instanton is constructed. This leads to an interesting possibility of the existence of another phase in the theory, i.e., the restored symmetry phase other than the normal Higgs-Kibble phase. © 1979.
