摘要
The composition of the oxides formed on 304 stainless steel stress corrosion specimens in high temperature waters have been measured by AES. The compositions of the films varied with water chemistry and temperature and were different for slow strain rate and U-bend specimens. The thickness of the oxide and enhancement of chromium in the films decreased with increasing chloride in the water. For U-bend specimens, the resistance to cracking increased with increasing film thickness and with the chromium contents of the films but thick films and high chromium contents gave less resistance to cracking for slow strain rate tests.
