SOME COMMENTS ON POLARIZATION CAPACITANCE IN IONIC SOLIDS

摘要
The study of a.c. polarization effects in solid ionic conductors in terms of equivalent parallel resistance and capacitance should be abandoned in favor of a series representation. Considerable simplification is achieved in terms of both the theoretical picture and experimental studies of departures from ideal behavior. Intrinsic resistive and capacitative effects are cleanly separated and a number of parameters previously thought to be significant are shown to be artifacts of the parallel representation. Further, experimental arrangements are suggested in which electrode blocking is known to be complete and in which interface capacitance may be studied as a function of d.c. cell voltage under electrochemically meaningful conditions. Electrode-related capacitative effects are discussed and areas for polarization studies suggested. © 1968.
