This study was undertaken in order to learn more about the variables associated with successful single-parent families. Twenty-five single parents volunteered to share their positive family experiences. Information was sought on the following topics: 1) ages of family members and length of single-parent family status; 2) education level and income; 3) relations with absent parent; 4) relations with children; 5) use of social networks; and 6) personal outlook and management. The author ends with a hypothesis regarding single-parent family success and suggests counseling implications. © 1979 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
