摘要
Recordings of horizontal eye position were made to evaluate the homogeneity of retinal exposure in a frequently used grating adaptation technique. Three subjects freely scanned 1, 2, and 4 c/deg vertical sinewave-grating patterns under instructions to evenly distribute their fixation positions over pattern phases during 1- or 4-min exposures. All subjects fixated longer on particular phases of gratings. Calculation of retinal exposures from time-fixation-position histograms revealed quasi-sinus-oidal local exposure of the central retina equivalent to stabilized gratings of 12-25 times threshold contrast. © 1979.
