摘要
Tonsils from eight dogs were frozen for four minutes or 25 minutes each. The dogs were sacrificed to allow microscopic studies of the tonsils and surrounding tissues from day one to day 15 postfreezing. It was found that vascular and, to a lesser degree, epithelial tissues were more resistant to freezing. More peritonsillar necrosis was produced with the 25 minute freeze. He-epithelialization was not present by day 15 postfreezing. The most marked tonsillar necrosis occurred during days one to five postfreezing, while peritonsillar edema was maximum during this time. Sloughing of tissue was present until day 13 but not apparent by day 15 postfreezing for four minutes. © 1969, SAGE Publications. All rights reserved.
