Sodium (eta-5-cyclopentadienyl)tris(dimethyl phosphito)cobaltate(1 -), M(r) = 474.14, orthorhombic, Pna2(1), a = 18.195(8), b = 9.436(3), c = 11.316(5) angstrom, V = 1943 angstrom 3, Z = 4, D(x) = 1.621 g cm-3, lambda(Mo K-alpha) = 0.71073 angstrom, mu = 11.83 cm-1, F(000) = 976, room temperature, final R = 0.036 for 1337 observed reflections with I greater-than-or-equal-to 3-sigma(I). The title compound is polymeric. Each [(C5H5)Co{P(O)(OMe)2}3]- (L(OMe)-) fragment behaves as a bridging ligand between two Na atoms; one end of the bridge is constituted by three complexing P = O O atoms, the other by two O(Me) O atoms of two distinct P(O)(OMe)2 groups. The coordination polyhedron around the Na ions is approximately square pyramidal.
