摘要
A parametric theoretical study is initiated for a solar-powered steam jet refrigeration (SJR) system in order to evaluate to what extent the system parameters can affect its performance. The system parameters to be considered are: motive steam rate, chilled water temperature and steam supply, and condenser and mixture pressures. Steam is to be generated using solar energy. The system components including the steam jet ejector (SJE) are described first. The equations describing the relationships relevant to the system performance as a function of system parameters are presented next, i.e. (1) the mixture pressure as a function of condenser pressure and the dimensionless Mach number at the end of mixing section of the ejector, (2) the mass ratio of entrained vapor to steam as a function of mixture pressure, (3) the live steam pressure and condenser pressure, and (4) the effect on the mass ratio and consequently the coefficient of performance as a function of steam and condenser pressure. Calculations are given for the amount of fresh water obtained from flashing as a function of evaporator pressure (which is created and maintained by the SJE). Performance characteristics are then evaluated using the above mentioned relationships.
