A RADIATIVE-TRANSFER MODEL USING SPHERICAL GEOMETRY AND PARTIAL FREQUENCY REDISTRIBUTION

摘要
The proper analysis of resonance emissions requires the use of a radiative transfer model to accurately simulate the scattering mechanisms. We describe a model that provides a solution to the radiative transfer equations by incorporating spherical geometry in a nonisothermal atmosphere while also accounting for partial frequency redistribution (PFR) during the scattering process. The sensitivity of the model is demonstrated, and comparisons are made to existing radiative transport models. Specific references are made toward applying this model to studying the resonance emissions of hydrogen and helium.
