摘要
An equation was developed to predict the solubility of solid n-alkanes in organic solvents including hydrocarbons, ketones, esters, and alcohols. The principal advantage offered by this equation is the limited number of quantities needed for the calculations. Fusion and transition properties of the solid alkanes, their molar volumes, and the molar volumes of the solvents are enough for a correct prediction of the solubility in nonpolar solvents. In polar solvents, in addition to these factors, a modified, nonspecific solubility parameter for the solute and for the solvent is needed.
