Thermal Analysis, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), in particular, has provided a rapid method of determining the recrystallization behavior of aluminum sheet. This technique can accurately describe production conditions as well as closely define some variables not easily controlled in more traditional methods. The analysis of DSC peak shifts with changes in heating rate have allowed determination of recrystallization kinetic parameters for a wide variety of processing variables; such as the amount of prior cold work, alloy and preconditioning. © 1979 American Society for Metals and the Metallurgical Society of AIME.
