摘要
The observability of a variable and the redundancy of a measurement are basic information in design process performance monitoring systems. The authors present the treatment for a general process network, allowing for overall and component mass balances, energy balances, reactions, heat exchanges and stream splitting. The algorithms effectively exploit the graph-theoretic properties of the network and the solvability of constraint equations to determine observability. The classification principles are presented in this paper. Classification of a medium-size process network requires only a few seconds of CPU time on a Vax 11/780.
