The lead-zinc ores of the Zeehan mineral field are zoned around the south-east margin of the Heemskirk Granite stock. Sulfur isotopic analyses exhibit considerable variation in sulfide minerals in both the granite and the lead-zinc ores. 8S a4 values vary from +15.1 to +2.2 perrail in sulfides from the granite, and from +12.0 to -3.6 perrail in sulfides from the lead-zinc ores. The 8S a4 values of the ores decrease across the mineral field and may be related to increasing distance from the source. Variations in isotopic composition between coexisting sulfides apparently represent a parsgenetic effect, with later-formed minerals depleted in S 84 with respect to earlier minerals. © 1969 Society of Economic Geologists, Inc.
