摘要
Very low voltages between a large-area Kelvin probe and a polymer-coated metal specimen applied for a few seconds can affect the subsequently measured work function of the specimen. The time constant for the decay of the anomalous work function decreases with increasing conductivity of the polymer. Cases where artifacts in the determination of a work function can arise are discussed.
