摘要
The homogeneous and heterogeneous thermal decomposition of dibenzyl disulphide in hexadecane solution over the temperature range 170-250-degrees-C was investigated. Under heterogeneous conditions the decomposition was studied on iron powder in air and argon atmospheres. The sulphur-containing decomposition products were determined. The products formed in homogeneous condition were elemental sulphur, dibenzyl monosulphide, thiol, hydrogen sulphide and monosulphides formed in secondary reaction of elemental sulphur with n-hexadecane. Under heterogeneous condition the major products were elemental sulphur, iron sulphide, monosulphides, and oxidized species formed by oxidation of dibenzyl sulphide and monosulphides. Some the decomposition reaction mechanisms are proposed, the results are discussed in relation to wear and friction behaviour of dibenzyl disulphide.
