The disappearance of Supracide, a new organophosphorus insecticide, was studied in hay, ensilage, and rumen contents (both in vivo and in vitro). A logarithmic rate of degradation occurred in silage and hay for 200 and 120 days, respectively. A linear increase in formation of aqueoussoluble products from 14C-labeled Supracide incubated with rumen contents was shown. Disappearance of Supracide from the intact rumen was logarithmic and was reduced to very low levels within two hours after administration. © 1969, American Dairy Science Association.
