摘要
A basic assumption of scattering theory is that the particles are asymptotically free. However, Van Dam and Wigner have recently shown that, for the important case of electromagnetic coupling, the angular momentum of the particles never assumes its free form (that of a constant tensor). This paper investigates such effects in classical mechanics and quantum field theory. It appears that they do not invalidate current experimental technique for angular momentum determinations. They are of interest in the general problem of asymptotic values. © 1968 The American Physical Society.
