MANAGEMENT OF CHRONIC INFECTED INTESTINAL PERFORATIONS BY SEROSAL PATCH TECHNIC

These cases are presented to demonstrate the ability of serosa to seal chronically infected intestinal defects which could be closed in no other fashion. Once the source of continuing contamination is eliminated, recovery is rapid and permanent. It is strongly urged that this aggressive approach be used early in the treatment of perforated duodenal stumps and other intestinal fistulas, thus avoiding the morbidity and mortality which accompany the usual conservative and indirect methods of management. © 1969.
