Effect of hydrostatic pressure has been studied for the normal-incommensurate-ferroelectric phase transitions in two isotropic ferroelectric crystals, Rb2CoCl4 and Rb2CoBr4. The pressure coefficients of the normal-incommensurate transition temperature, dTi/dp, are -12 K/GPa for Rb2CoCl4 and +39 K/GPa for Rb2CoBr4. The initial pressure coefficients of the incommensurate-ferroelectric transition temperature, (dTc/dp)0, are -70 K/GPa and -52 K/GPa for Rb2CoCl4 and Rb2CoBr4, respectively. The results are compared with those of other K2SeO4-type ferroelectrics obtained so far, and discussed. © 1990, The Physical Society of Japan. All rights reserved.
