摘要
The influence of the addition of Lewis acid (zinc nitrate-hexahydrate) and Lewis base (N,N-dimethylaminoethanol) on the aqueous Claisen-Schmidt reaction was investigated The results demonstrate the preferential activation of the aldol addition reaction by the zinc ion under either specific or general base conditions. A protocol has been developed which selectively produces aldol addition products under aqueous conditions.
