摘要
1. Prey-localization in Notonecta glauca L. is released by surfacewaves of the water. 2. The range of sensitivity extends from 5 to 300 Hz. 3. Threshold is lowest at 100 to 150 Hz, where 1 μm p-p amplitude of a wave enables the bugs in 50% of the trials to locate the source of vibration. 4. Threshold amplitudes in third-instar larvae are about twice of those in adults. Fifth-instar larvae have an intermediate sensitivity. 5. Rabe's conclusion, that hairs along the hind legs are responsible for wave perception, could not be confirmed. The receptors were located in the distal part of the first and second pair of legs. © 1969 Springer-Verlag.
