摘要：

This essay examines the origins of the term 'cause-effect', and analyses the widespread conviction that DNA is the primary source of information in a cell, and that selective gene expression is the basis for differentiation. It is suggested that this dogma is not realistic and, therefore, is detrimental to our thinking, teaching and research. © 1979.
