摘要
This paper presents an attempt to illustrate the influence of the molecular weight of polyacrylamide (PAM) on some parameters characterizing the behavior of macromolecules in solution as well as at the interface. The adsorption of different fractions of monodispersed PAM at the TiO2-solution interface was measured. From the changes in viscosity of the suspensions of TiO2 alone as well as those containing particles covered with PAM, the thickness of the adsorption layer (δ) of the polymer was determined. Knowing the values of δ and the adsorption density of the polymer, the volume occupied by one macromolecule in the surface layer was calculated. The parameters characterizing behavior of the polymer molecules in the adsorbed state were compared with those in the solution. © 1990.
