摘要
The Carnot cycle, i.e., a reversible (ideal, not real) cycle carried out by an (ideal) heat-engine working with an (ideal) thermodynamic fluid, and the general concept of the thermodynamic cycle are sometimes used for comparisons with economic and biological (real) processes, supposing the latter resemble the former (Kummel, 1989; Mayumi, 1991). These comparisons provide a simple, useful way to account for very complex phenomena, but we should be aware that they are only a simplified model and not always applicable. Misunderstanding of this limitation (Khalil, 1990) may cause deep theoretical contradictions when a real process is considered. © 1993.
