Hall mobilities of rutile single crystals with either c-axis perpendicular to the crystal surface or parallel to the long dimension of the sample were measured as a function of temperature in the range 300-1250°K in CO2/CO = 49 and pure CO2. The Hall mobility was found to be independent of the atmosphere and to decrease rapidly with the temperature. Recent theories of small polaron Hall mobility are used to show that the temperature dependence of the Hall mobility does not fit into the framework of small polaron theory as was suggested by several investigators. © 1969.
