摘要
In the rainy season, rice and ragi are the primary crops grown in the Kumaon Hills while the soybean and the common pulses must be considered the secondary crops. The farmers of the hill country are extremely efficient in the utilization of available land and in the utilization of available water and fertilizer resources. The hill people fully understand the nutritional quality of the soybean and use it to supplement their cereal diet. The soybeans collected from the Kumaon Hills should be screened for such useful economic characters as disease resistance and taste and for germination under adverse conditions such as cool temperature. © 1969 The New York Botanical Garden.
