LANDAU-LEVELS AND THE PARTONIC INTERPRETATION OF THE AXIAL ANOMALY

摘要
The flow of levels in the Dirac sea is studied as a plane electromagnetic wave is adiabatically turned on in massive QED. The wave is turned on in such a way that the flow of chirality along the n=0 Landau levels can be followed. (Q̇5)m the rate of change of chirality due to the electron mass and (Q̇5)anomaly due to the calculated from the flow of states along the n=0 Landau levels. (Q̇5)anomaly corresponds to a flow of chirality from (or no) to infinite momentum regions of the Dirac sea, in agreement with the general picture of Gribov. By integrating (Q̇5)anomaly in time the contribution of the anomaly of the forward matrix element of the axial current between polarized photons is calculated and identified as a point-like contribution. © 1990.
