CORRELATION BETWEEN THE VIBRATIONAL CORRECTION EPSILON AND THE EFFECTIVE MOMENT OF INERTIA

摘要
A correlation is found between the vibrational correction ε{lunate} = Io - Ie and the ground state moment of inertia Io using a statistical treatment of existing data. The following empirical correlations were established: log ε{lunate} = 0.611(10) log Io - 1.776(25) on the basis of 76 diatomic molecules and log ε{lunate} = 1.247(5) log Io - 2.651(13) on the basis of 61 polyatomic molecules. The origin and possible applications of this correlation are discussed. © 1979.
