摘要
The nature of several difficulties arising during HVEM straining of thin foils is examined. These are mainly radiation effects, surface effects of various kinds, heterogeneity of the deformation at the microscopic scale, and analysis of the experimental data. A few general rules, most of them semiempirical, are given which may guide the experimentator for choosing optimum operating conditions.
