Physicians who prescribe outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy must remain abreast of advances in intravenous catheters and infusion pumps so they can select equipment that realizes the full potential of therapy and suits the patients needs for comfort, reliability, and safety. The cost of equipment and installation can vary greatly and is thus another important consideration when choosing these devices.
