E.M.F. measurements of the cell Pt-H2(p = 1) HCl(m3), CsCl(m3, BaCl2(m4) AgCl, Ag have been combined with isopiestic measurements of the system CsClBaCl2 to calculate the thermodynamic properties of each of the electrolytes in aqueous HclCsClBaCl2 mixtures. In contrast to the HClCsCl and HClBaCl2 mixtures the activity coefficient of the HCl in the quaternary mixtures does not obey Harned's rule. The measurements made in the HClCsClBaCl2 mixtures are entirely consistent with those made previously in the two ternary mixtures. © 1969.
