AN EXPERIMENTAL-STUDY OF THE ELECTRONIC-STRUCTURE OF C-60 FILMS GROWN AT THE AG(110) SURFACE

摘要
An extensive evaluation of the electronic structure of the Ag(110)/C60 interface is reported as a function of the overlayer coverage. Submonolayer coverages are characterized by a strong chemical adlayer-substrate interaction which causes a significant re-distribution of the pi-symmetry occupied and pi*- and sigma*-symmetry unfilled molecular states local to the C sites. This is consistent with a two-dimensional array of C60 molecules. For coverages less-than-or-equal-to 1 ML, traces of three-dimensional coalescence are found with an electronic structure very close to solid fullerene.
