TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF PERSONALITY CHANGES OCCURRING BETWEEN THE 1ST YR. OF HIGH SCHOOL AND THE 1ST YR. OF COLLEGE, COMPARISONS WERE MADE OF THE SCORES ON THE MINNESOTA COUNSELING INVENTORY OF A GROUP OF 259 STUDENTS TESTED WHEN THEY ENTERED HIGH SCHOOL AND AGAIN BEFORE COLLEGE. OF THE 9 COMPARISONS OF MEAN SCORES, 7 WERE STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT FOR MEN AND 4 FOR WOMEN. IN ALL BUT 1 INSTANCE, CHANGES IN THE MEAN SCORES REFLECTED IMPROVED PSYCHOLOGICAL STATUS. CORRELATIONS BETWEEN 9TH AND 13TH GRADE SCORES RANGED .34-.71 AND THE SOCIAL AND FAMILY ATTITUDES OF WOMEN APPEARED MORE PREDICTABLE THAN THOSE FOR MEN. TO AN APPRECIABLE EXTENT, RESPONSE TO A PERSONALITY INVENTORY IN THE 9TH GRADE IS RELATED TO RESPONSE 4 YR. LATER.
