摘要
The design philosophy for the Next European Torus is to achieve the maximum flexibility possible within other constraints imposed by physics technology. Design requirements for major design areas have been established recognizing these constraints. These 'high-level' requirements lead in turn to requirements for specific systems and components within the major design areas. The design consequences for the basic machine, in-vessel components, operation cycle, assembly and maintenance, auxiliary systems, and the overall layout are introduced.
