MEASUREMENT OF THE GROUND-STATE SPECTROSCOPIC QUADRUPOLE-MOMENT OF IR-192

With the technique of nuclear magnetic resonance on oriented nuclei the hyperfine interaction of dilute 192Ir in Fe and Ni has been investigated. The line width was reduced so far that the quadrupole splitting could be resolved. We obtain gμNHhf/h = 166.771(4) MHz, e2qQ/h = 8.307(4) MHz for 192IrNi and gμNHhf/ = 503.45(12) MHz, e2qQ/h = 15.74(37)MHz for 192IrFe. Taking hyferfine anomalies into account the g-factor and the spectroscopic quadrupole moment of the ground state of 192Ir are deduced to be g = 0.4786(24) and Q = 2.39(9) b, respectively. © 1979.
