DIFFUSION OF PSEUDOPLANAR SOLUTES - AN INVESTIGATION ON THE EFFECTS OF HYDROGEN-BONDING

摘要
Mutual diffusion coefficients of pseudoplanar molecules capable of forming hydrogen bonds at infinite dilution in various solvents have been measured at 298.2 K using Taylor's dispersion method. The data are compared with those of the nonassociated pseudoplanar solutes reported in the literature and also here. Solutes capable of strong solute-solvent interactions in this study are found to diffuse slower than the nonassociated ones with similar size and shape. The effects of hydrogen bonding on diffusion are reported and discussed.
