CONTENT OF PLASMINOGEN-ACTIVATOR IN ENDOMETRIUM ESTIMATED BY FIBRIN-AGAR PLATE METHOD

The content of plasminogen activator in the normal endometrium was estimated in 40 women (17 specimens of proliferating endometrium, ten of secretory endometrium and 13 of menstrual endometrium). Moreover, decidua of 32 women operated during the first trimester of normal gravidity and of 17 women during spontaneous abortion was examined. No difference was found in the content of plasminogen activator in the proliferating and secretory endometrium. The mean value of activator was 80.11 u. During menstruation a marked increase of activator was observed amounting to 134.0 u. During metro-rrhagiae the mean value was 112.00 u. In the decidua during normal gravidity the mean value was 31.06 u, in the decidua of spontaneous abortions 100.47 u. In ten samples of chorion from the first trimester of normal gravidity no fibrinolytic activity was present. In nine samples of chorion from spontaneous abortions the mean activity was 80.0 u. The possible connection between the content of the plasminogen activator in the endometrium and the bleeding was discussed. © 1969 S. Karger AG, Basel.
