ELECTRONIC-STRUCTURE OF A SRO-TERMINATED SRTIO3(100) SURFACE

摘要
A SrO-terminated surface of SrTiO3(100) is obtained by depositing a monolayer of SrO on SrTiO3. Its electronic structure is studied by means of electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) and compared with that of TiO2-terminated SrTiO3 which can be obtained by annealing in an oxygen atmosphere. It is revealed that the SrO-terminated surface is free of the surface states in contrast to TiO2-terminated SrTiO3. Furthermore, the defect state does not appear even if the SrO-terminated surface is annealed under ultra-high vacuum (UHV).
