CHEMICAL METHODS FOR PREPARATION OF MANGANESE DIOXIDES WITH HIGH ELECTROCHEMICAL REACTIVITY AND HIGH OXIDIZING CAPABILITY

摘要
The experimental conditions are reported which have to prevail for obtaining manganese dioxides with high oxidizing capability and high electrochemical reactivity. These procedures were applied already in 1950 in the patented process 'Philodyne', and they are disclosed here for the first time. Although improvements remain to the considered, the key procedures are reported here in the light of the most recent advances in this field. They may further lead to the elaboration of new, unprecedented processes. They also open the way to dioxides for specific applications in lithium batteries and/or rechargeable and for oxidation reactions.
