摘要
The multimode Jahn‐Teller (JT) effect problem for an impurity orbital doublet strongly linearly interacting with lattice vibrations is solved. Within the adiabatic approximation the behaviour of the system is reduced to its collective rotation along and to small harmonic vibrations near the bottom of the circular trough of the potential surface. The JT interaction induces JT local and resonant states essential in the interpretation of the fine structure of vibronic spectra. The conditions of their occurrence are discussed.
