SOME FEATURES OF A PLASMA BEAM PRODUCED BY A HF SLOTTED LINE AND TRAPPED IN A NONHOMOGENEOUS MAGNETIC FIELD

摘要
The characteristics of a plasma beam created by means of a slotted line fed with h.f. power in a magnetic mirror are studied in the range of neutral-gas pressure between 3·10-6 mmHg and 10-3 mmHg. The radial and axial profiles of the electron density and temperature, of the floating potential and of the ion density are reported. It can be seen that at the lowest pressures the random energy of the electrons is transformed in axial energy of both electrons and ions. © 1969 Società Italiana di Fisica.
